Downtown Fort William - Canon R + 135mm

Patrick Chondon July 4, 2020

I have actually been getting out quite a bit lately, but haven’t really posted any of the photos here on my blog. If I have time, I’ll upload some previous photo walks, but in the meantime, here is my latest one from last night. My Canon R was the camera of choice and I decided to completely switch it up for my lens. I went with my barely used 135mm f2. I've been considering selling it, mainly because I have the 70-200mm. After using it last night, I may have to rethink getting rid of it. I believe it is probably my sharpest lens I own.

One of my favourite spots in town to walk around is Fort William. It’s such a contrast of old and new. You can still see a lot of the history in the buildings and scenery, and I absolutely love that. Using the 135mm allowed me to get in tight on a lot of subjects, for a completely different perspective. Plus, with the f2 aperture, it’s very easy to blur out the background.

It was already 9:00pm when I arrived downtown, so the lighting was perfect. As usual, I had no particular route in mind, I just wandered around aimlessly for an hour. Whatever caught my eye, I photographed. I tend not to linger at one spot for more than a few seconds. It’s not that I’m in a rush, but I just like to keep things moving. Everyone once in a while, I’ll stay at a scene for a few shots, but that’s about it.

I’m already looking forward to taking this camera and lens combo out again very soon. The results are very impressive!
