With Fall quickly coming, I wanted to get out and enjoy some of the nice weather. After I dropped off my wife at school, I figured it would be a good time to get out. I didn’t really feel like going back home and sitting in front of a computer, trying to do work. The area I chose to explore is one I’m very familiar with and close by to where I live, in and around the University.
My camera of choice was my Canon EOS R paired with my favourite lens I own, the 50mm 1.2. 50mm was has always been my favourite walk around focal length, and when I was able to get a good deal on this lens I was so excited. It has exceeded all expectations I had before I owned it. It also helps that I love shooting wide open, probably a little too much, if there is such a thing. With that being said, for my pro work, especially dark wedding receptions, it’s indispensable.
For my walk, I went down some of the side streets and then ended up at the garden area by the police station. The flowers were still in full bloom so I got some colourful photos of them. I continued on and eventually worked my way along the trail to the University. Instead of staying on the paved path, I walked along the river which was totally worth it.
My favourite type of weather to shoot in is cloudy, overcast days. By the time I got to the University, the sun had come out, so I had to work with shadows instead, but I go some interesting photos. After all, you can’t always control the weather right?
I didn’t get as many keepers as I usually do, but I actually focused on enjoying the actual walk, rather than just taking photos the whole time.
