I picked up my wife from school but she wasn’t quite ready. I of course had my camera with me, in this case it was the Sony A6300. I had the 35mm 1.8 on it, which is a great lens. Admittedly, I hadn’t used the Sony for quite some time. You see, it was my main video camera for over 1.5 years. It is what got me started on my journey into videography which I am still learning to this day. I have since upgraded to the Canon system which I adore. Sitting there on my shelf, it would just stare at me each day, so recently I decided to dust it off and start using it again when I can.
I sold off the fantastic Sigma 16mm lens I had for it a while ago. I didn’t really want to but I just wasn’t using it enough, I wanted to put that money towards Canon gear. So the only lens I still have is the 35mm. It’s a very fun lens to use and still ends up being a 50mm equivalent. Plus it’s stabilized, which isn’t really all that important to me in regards to photography. But it does help in certain cases.
The colours on the Sony are different than the Canons I own, but I honestly like them just as much. I have heard that the latest Sony cameras have gotten even better but I haven’t used any of them so I wouldn’t know.
Back to the actual photos. While I waited for my wife, I challenged myself to get interesting photos in her classroom. Not an easy feat but I managed to get some keepers. We also stopped by my mother-in-laws’ place which I have photographed many many time.s That doesn’t mean I can’t capture new photos there, which is exactly what I did. As you can see from the photos I recently purchased a Hasselblad 500 which I am head over heels in love with. I’ll be sure to do a write up on that camera in the near future too.
We ended off our evening with some drinks at one of our favourite hangouts, Sleeping Giant Brewery. We like to go there to play crib and have a drink. I thinkI actually won one game this time. I don’t win often against my wife.
